My name is Edmund Marco and it’s a pleasure to sign your guest book. I work for an advertising agency in London. Our agency represents direct marketing companies that are involved in the marketing of products as seen on TV in England. Most of the infomercial products come from the U.S. but then again we export our talents as well. My brother has appeared in infomercials in the U.S. advertising various products. I think it’s hilarious that English people respond so well to American products while Americans tend to respond well to sales people who have an English accent!

Hi! It’s about time that someone put up this site. (Many thanks to the webmaster! And to Preeti – for telling me about it, though I’ve only gotten around to signing the guest book now.) It’s amazing to see how Tembagapura has touched so many people’s lives. And I thought I was the only one with the great memories. 🙂 I’m Rosalyn Rayco, most of you know me as Rose or Rosie. Or you might remember any of my three sisters – Ruchelle (Ruch), Rowena (Row), and Rhoda Gay; or my parents, Rudy and Elsa. Let me start off by telling everyone from my childhood that I’ve missed you all! With a childhood like ours, who could ask for more? I left with great memories, and lasting friendships. I’ve kept in touch with a lot of my friends since my dad left in 1996, but it’d be great to hear from the others who have kept their long silence. I’m just an email away. To all my friends, love ya all!

It was great remembering all the good times I had while visiting my family there. (I am one of the Rhinehart crew…the oldest one that they shipped off to boarding school! lol) I didn’t see any update on my brother Mikey, who I know you all know, so I will tell you what he is up to….Mikey got married in December of 2000 and he and his wife Tina have a beautiful little boy named Gabriel. I just wanted to give a great big ‘WUTZ UP?!’ to all fellow Tembagapura adventurers. Also I had to get my name on the coolest sight on the web. A trip down memory lane is just a couple of mouse clicks away now. Many thanks to Jason Scarabin and Sean Crawford for making it possible to find all those old friends I thought I’d never hear from again. There are a couple of names missing from this guestbook, Mark Carter, Cal Zimmer, you know who you are. Anyway, Denver has been great, it’s nice to be near the mountains still, although there is nothing like peering up at Mt. Zaagham on your way to school/work in the morning. I keep running into people, Dave and Jan Francisco live just a few minutes from me, and I saw Arika Acton recently, I believe she just tied the knot. Anyway, it’s a real small world, feel free to write, I love the e-mail penpal thing and it would be great to know how everyone is doing. I have to just say hello to a few more people: Ricky Ricardo and his brother Remier, Ruchelle and Rosemary Rayco, Chris and Zoraida Manipon, the Macken family, the Lopez family, the Zimmers, of course, and the Carters. Ya’ll need to write! Take care, everyone. Rich Owen

Hey there fellow tembagapurians! Most of you knew me as Ed, little Ed, big Ed, basketball Ed, whatever. I’m sure that jogged your memory. I can’t believe it took me this long to find this resource. I was thinking about setting something up but I was beaten to the punch. My last time in Tembags was the summer of 98′. I’m sure there is a song there somewhere….I was born there in 1980 and I spent half of my current life there, good times, some bad ones but nothing to regret thats for sure. Just wanted to give a shout out to my boys and girls I grew up with, I miss ya! And all the great parents who gave me the family I didn’t have! Ryan, Shane, Rossa, DJ, Rob, Loren, Nat, Vanja, Kelly, Phil, Terell, Stu, Darren, Mark, Tom, Richie, Bart, Aaron, Erin, Preeti, lil Jack, Wes, Keith, Bob, Arika, Mikey, Mario, Mariana, Lucy, Dennis, Rose, Cheryl, Jason T, just to name a few. I would go on but I need my yearbooks to get everyone. That was just off the top of my head and there is plenty more, just goes to show how many of you guys and girls touched my heart! Love you all, Ed.
Eddie Merdjanic Syndey, NSW Australia – Saturday,1 (EDT)

Jason, I just received an e-mail from my son, Russell, about this web site. It is wonderful! I thank you for your efforts. We lived in Tembagapura for a total of about twelve years. It is personally one of the highlights of my life (hopefully, not the last one) and I believe each member of our family feels the same way about it. I believe our experience in Irian Jaya helped each of us be better people and develop a close family bond which we work everyday to maintain. Terry and I are living in Toronto, Canada. We miss the Colorado mountains but are having a great time exploring this part of the world. Russell is attending CSU when he is not mountain climbing. Richard is working in Denver and getting back to his writing which he loves and has a great talent for. Hello and all of the best to all of our Tembagapura friends! Linda Owen, ringtail@attcanada.ca.
Linda Owen – Thursday,7 (EDT)

Fantastic! When I get bored or miss Tembagapura, which is way too often for having been gone from there for 6 years, I look up the town on the internet, I have to say that this website was an unexpected joy to find. Fun to see some pictures and read things from people I have not seen in a long time. Thanks Jason and anyone who helped with this web page.
Russell Owen Fort Collins, CO USA – Wednesday,7 (EDT)

Great site. I worked at TPRA as a contractor (via Andersen Consulting) supporting the computer systems that ran the business. Was there July/August 1993 &amp March 1994. To this day I say that Tembagapura and the mountains of Irian Jaya is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. Still have my pictures of all the waterfalls and the glacier! And even today I never look at a white Land Cruiser without checking for a number on the door! Best of luck and I’ll be checking back for updates.

Thanks for the website, love all the pictures. Just wish there were more of the housing. We were in Tembagapura twice. The first time in 1980, then back for two years, 1982-1984. I know the changes in the community must have changed a lot from then and would just like to see how much. While we were there, we had a baby, Sarah who is grown and married now, our other children are grown too. Our son, Jeff is working in Mesa, has a son, Stevan. Our other daughter, Valerie is living in Casa Grande and working on the Gila Indian Reservation, in Sacaton. i would love to hear from anyone that was in Tembagapura during the years that we were there. g

Kelli Lenton (Hendricks) – Tues8 (EDT)

I love this place. I love the variety of people and cultures. My parents always taught us to respect one another and other cultures. If it wasnt for these fundamentals the whole experience would be lost. Here are my favorite memories; Sitting on “The Point” and watching the clouds roll in until they touched the tip of my nose, playing sports with Indonesian students and developing a close friendship with basic communication! Playing cards, games, macrame’, and other crafts. Mr Silverstone and his Math classes and Soccer games (not the running! ha,ha), the dances, the baking, the music, the friends and most of the jungle! I hike and love nature! My only wish is that I would have captured my experience on camara! I love this place and as a teen I would ride in the helicopeter, and as the clouds were starting to sock us in, I would play,”Dont Fear the Reaper” (loved the Pilots, key word is “Teen Amusement”)There is so much more I could go on in detail, but the bottom line is to say thank you, and I am a better person because of this experience and the people I have met! There is so much! So please if you would like to contact me-please do! I have a wonderful family and a wonderful life! To hear from you would be a treat!! Cheers to all!! Love Kelli
Kelli Lenton (Hendrincks) – Tues5 (EDT)

I remember starting first grade over there…I was only 5, so when I came back I was a year ahead of all my old friends! Not sure what my dad did at the mine, there, but I remember he took my mom and I up the mountain to see the tram, once and it felt like that place was on the top of the world. My parents are living in Carlsbad, New Mexico, now….but I’ve since married and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah. Does anyone remember the movies they used to show at that clubhouse ? Great site, guys !!

Jason, great website. So good to hear from so many of the kids that I carried back and forth to Tembags. Remember those Orthodontist trips Heather. Wayne and I and of course Jack are well and happy living here in Oregon. It is a lot like Tembagapura, but not as much rain. Wayne has been back to Tembagapura on a few consulting jobs, but I would love to go back too. Even just for a week. Someone asked once what I missed about Tembagapura. I think apart from the spectacular scenery, the wonderful companionship and especially the fun times. I am in contact with many old friends from those days and we all agree that that is what made Tembagapura so wonderful. Thanks again Jason for the great site, and the chance to make contact with old friends. Kath Cook. ex Flight Attendant Freeport. F27 and BAC-1-11.

Hey great website. I was a tembagapurian 1990-1993 and it remains forever in my and my children’s ( Aimee, Crystel and Melanie) memories. Lots of good times, a few bad ,but lots of people thrown together from all over and getting on as best they can. Lasting relationships and very close ones. Hey look at all that new housing in the photo, the town has grown! I’d love to write more but have to go to work. If there are any kids there who would like to communicate with mine, they’d love it.
Heather Ferguson Adelaide, S.A. Australia – Tuesda9 (EST)

I am doing some research for a novel I am writing. I’d love to hear any stories about TPRA–the people, company, expats, natives etc. that you might have. You may feel free to change name to protect identities. Please email them to me — and pass the word. Thanks! Lorraine
Lorraine Keene (Mantei) Cedar Hill, TX USA – Sunda6 (EST)

Glad to see this site–it is amazing how connected we feel, isn’t it. My (ex) husband and I lived in TPRA from 2/90 until 12/91. Our three kids, Cassie, Kendall and Daniel attended school there for those two years. Cassie is now at South Dakota School of Mines, and goes to school with a young Indonesian boy who also lived in TPRA. It is such a very small world. Keep up the great work on this site. Lorraine

It is so great to have the opportunity to reconnect with my old friends. Thanks Jason! The best years of my childhood were definitely spent in Tembag; tubing, swimming, mud fights, helicopter rides… it wouldn’t have been as fun anywhere else. Please email a note and tell me what you’re all up to.
Alison Heston Denver, CO USA – Thursda5 (EST)

The Site is wonderful. Its good to see a little bit of the past has stuck with everybody. I, like everyone else, have plenty of memories from my time in Tembagapura. It really isn’t something you can explain to others, so It is good to find a spot where we all have some of the same experiences. Kudos to Jason for the site, I hope it continues to grow beyond expectations.
Todd Heston Baton Rouge, LA USA – Thursda7 (EST)

Hello all I went to Tembagapura school from 89-93. I had a bunch of fun in Indonesia even though I was only a little kid. But now I have grown up into a big 16 year old man. My parents are Carl and Emmy Giaudrone, they’re not very cool but I have dealt with them for while now and I have wooped them into shape. not really they’re alright. So I have nothing else to say, but if anyone knows me ya’ll can email me and stuff.

Hello to all my fellow Freeporters, So glad to see that I’m not the only one to have such fond memories of my time spent in one of the most unique places in the world. My 3 years and 8 months living in Tembagapura and Kuala Kencana were the most special times in my life. I know that I will never forget the wonderful friends and experiences that my family and I were exposed to. I hope that all of my dear friends in Indonesia and America are doing well and I look forward to hearing from some of you in the near future. I will try to submit some photos of the most unique and beautiful people in the world (Irianese). Let’s talk. Sampai jumpa lagi. Love Keith Gremillion

Great website. We truly enjoyed our time in Tembagapura. It was a wonderful time in our life, we even feel we were a little hasty leaving. A wonderful place in the sun (and rain) maybe someday we’ll return for a visit. Keep this page going we’ll be around. Joe, Billie, Joseph, &amp Jillian Bittick.

We are on vacation right now, but still live in TPRA. Received an email from Margo with this website so decided to check it out. Great idea and a way for others to learn more about our community.
John and Grace Barber Tembagapura, – Saturday, 0 (EST)

Selamat Siang Semuanya! Jason, this is great! What a fantastic way for everyone to keep in touch. I hope the message board will become more active. It is great keeping in touch with our TPRA and KK (New Town) friends. I know the site was started with ISS reunions in mind, but it looks like it is going to be a great place for ISS/YPJ students, their parents, and any one who was forever changed by the TPRA experience to keep in touch.
Margo Rhinehart Mandeville, LA USA – Saturday, 9 (EST)

I will be visiting Tembagapura Dec 2nd-9th 2000 on business (Occ. health and Safety). Look forward to meeting you there. Coming in from Brisbane via Darwin and Timika. Reminds me of the four years I spent at Emperor Mine in Fiji. Great site – keep up the good work. Chris

Well people of the Tembagapura I am glad that you have “survived” it and can look back with great memories. I had a wonderful three years living there in 89′ thru 92′ so any of you kids I roamed down to the villages and traded t-shirts for stone axes give me a jingle so we can have a laugh about it all.
Tj Apodaca Albuquerque, NM USA – Thursday, 3 (EST)

Very good site for a starter. Need to add another informations, including peoples activities in there. Good luck!

Hey this is a really cool thing to have! I in Tembags 3 years ago and have had some of my biggest and best memories in this little town. It was an experience I will never forget. What I won’t forget, most of all, is the people and friends. I am tossing around the idea of setting up a reunion at my house for all the Tembag Kids of the 1991 to 1998 era. My mother did it with the ladies and it turned out really well. I would love the chance to catch with friends that I have not seen for a while. Post your ideas, or email me!

Hey everyone!! I’m so excited to see all of you signing the Guestbook!! …Especially Mrs. Mom Cook!!! Woo Hoo! However, I’m writing now to test the problem that seems to be recurring with deleting the previous entry. Be patient I’ll fix it! Spread the word and let’s get this place popular enough to be our own little Tembagapura once again! Love and miss you all!!

You’ve done a wonderful job on this page, Jason. Thanks for making a place to come ‘home’ to. And I must concur with Julie: after all this time, it still feels like family. The best part of my childhood took place in Tembags, and I love that we are all together again now. It’s a small miracle.

I think it’s just great that all of you ‘kids’ are connecting once again. It was a rare and wonderful experience – the way we all were in those days. Of course, Heather has probably heard from her mom, too, that it’s not the same any more. However, if you all ever decided to come back for a visit, I’m sure that you would bring back the old spirit to this beautiful place. If any of you ever need information on the people around here – just write. Amole Mom Carolyn

I remember it being a really unique experience although I was very young (and rambunctious) I remember many of you and your kindness fondly. Amazing site, and it’s great to see people doing well.
